Driving along Westfield Road, on Friday 9th June, I stopped to admire the bee and pyradmidal orchids and other wild flowers in full bloom. Imagine how dismayed I was to drive past at lunchtime and see most had been closely mown – despite the sign about ‘Bee orchid planting’. It’s so disheartening about peoples’ ignorance when it comes to wild flowers. The same happens around the Tring/Wiggington A41 roundabout. Why do council grasscutters ignore best cutting times? There is not a shortage of bees, but of their habitat that humans haphazardly destroy.
