The WI Baton will be taken on quite a journey before arriving at The Lawn at approximately 2.30pm It will start on a Canal Boat during the morning (by invitation only).
Then it will be transported by a Morris Traveller to the Car-Park at the base of Ivinghoe Beacon. WI members and friends will walk to the top of Ivinghoe Beacon. Why not join us for a strenuous walk? We will be leaving the car-park at 12noon. The WI Baton will arrive at The Lawn on a Vintage Tractor from Pitstone Museum at 2.30pm.
Parking on the Lawn is free.
There will be lots to do and see during the afternoon. Refreshments from the Community Café – CuriosiTEA Rooms – will be available.
Stalls from various organisations, also lots of displays, craft, archives and more.
All the events will start at 2.00pm.
Singing from The Joyful Divas – Buckinghamshire’s WI choir – during the afternoon.
Janice Langley, the NFWI Chair is coming to help us celebrate the WI Centenary, along with other guests.
The WI Baton will be handed over to Bedfordshire Federation at 4.00pm.
Why are we handing the WI Baton over at Ivinghoe? It is where the first WI opened in Buckinghamshire, even before the Federation was started!
