Defibrillators

Please find above, a training video showing how to use a public access defibrillator. Please take a few moments to watch the video and familiarise yourself with the equipment. You do not need to be a trained medic to use a defibrillator, it will give you voice prompts throughout. We also hold periodic training events, which we’d encourage you to try and attend.

If a loved one suffers a cardiac arrest, the aim is to commence treatment within the first 5 minutes. The Stoke Mandeville ambulance service is located approximately 25 minute journey time from the village. Being able to use a defibrillator in the event of an incident, before the ambulance arrives, will significantly improve the patients chance of survival.

24/7 Public Access Defibrillators are currently located at:

  • Pitstone Pavilion
  • Pitstone Memorial Hall
  • The Village Health Centre in Yardley Avenue
  • The Lounge in Yardley Avenue
  • Cooks Wharf Marina
  • Colbree Engineering Group, Beacon Court
  • Little Rothschild House surgery in Marsworth Road
  • There is also a defibrillator at Sapphire Gymnastics, during opening hours only

You can find more information on the defib finder website: Defib finder – find the defibrillators nearest you.

All units are registered to The Circuit so they are visible, and their maintenance status is known, to the ambulance and paramedic services. The ambulance service will direct you to the nearest defibrillator in the event of an emergency and provide you with the access code for the cabinet. Being familiar with the location of your nearest unit will help you feel confident to access it.

The parish council owns and maintains the defibrillator at the pavilion. We also part funded the units at the Memorial Hall and Village Health Centre, both of which are now maintained by those organisations.

NEW (March 2025):

We would like to extend our thanks to Colbree Engineering Group for their support and assistance with permitting a public access defibrillator to be mounted on the wall outside their front door. The parish council was awarded 50% grant funding for this unit via London Hearts and the central government defibrillator grant stream. This unit will be cared for and maintained by the parish council. This new location will probably be your nearest if you work within the business park or live at the top end of Castlemead, so please familiarise yourself with its location.

We would also like to extend our thanks to Rothschild House Surgery for their support and assistance with permitting a public access defibrillator to be mounted on the wall of surgery, as you enter via the path/drive it is immediately on your left hand side. The parish council was awarded 50% grant funding for this unit via London Hearts and the central government defibrillator grant stream. This unit will be cared for and maintained by the parish council. This new location will probably be your nearest if you reside between the Albion Road & Brookmead school, so please familiarise yourself with its location.

We are currently working on a project to extend the number of defibrillators in the village, which will help ensure that all residents can reach a defibrillator within a few minutes. We hope to install an additional 3 units. We will keep this webpage updated as the project progresses.
