Thank you to all the members of public who attending the planning committee meeting last night

Pitstone Parish Council would like to thank all those members of the public who gave up their valuable spare time to attend yesterday evening’s specially-convened Planning Committee meeting in respect of the Rectory Homes planning application.  Thank you too to the representatives of other local parish councils for their support.  We estimate that in excess of 110 people were at the Pavilion Site, over half of whom were unable to join the main meeting inside the hall due to fire regulation restrictions.  Particular thanks are due to those who ‘attended’ outside, listening in the hallway or through open windows, or simply sharing their thoughts with Cllr Nicholls in the car park!

At its meeting full Council resolved that it was “wholly and resolutely opposed” to the Rectory Homes planning application on a multitude of grounds that will be rehearsed in detail within our formal response to the Local Planning Authority, Buckinghamshire Council.  A copy will be available on our website once it has been lodged on their planning portal, most likely at the start of next week.

We would encourage any residents (whether of Pitstone or other villages) who have views on the proposal to also make them known to Buckinghamshire Council via its planning portal, here: Simple Search.  The deadline for submissions is Friday 18 July.  Please also be aware that, because of the way the planning system works, ‘weight of numbers’ counts for nothing and so too, sadly, would any petition against the proposals.  It is always positive when local residents engage with local issues but in order for your views to make a difference, they need to be submitted via the planning portal too.  Please also send a copy of your submission to Laurie, our Clerk – residents’ submissions are no longer published on the portal itself, so this will help us to continue gauging local feelings about the proposal.

Many thanks once again for the superb turnout at last night’s meeting and for the broad spread of views aired, which has left the Council in a much better place to represent the interests of the community it seeks to serve.
